DOOM 1 and 2 were originally made for DOS systems, making them impossible to run on Windows, Mac OS and Linux

Here are some sourceports of the games for modern systems

ZDoom

ZDoom - One of the most advanced and used sourceports of DOOM. ZDoom provides many quality-of-life features for the player, as well as updates the DOOM engine for more complex levels and things that were not possible previously. However, the development of ZDOOM has been stopped in the favour of another port - GZDoom

GZDoom

GZDoom is a more advanced and, overall, better version of ZDoom

"GZDoom is the latest version targeting current systems with modern graphics hardware. (Vulkan/OpenGL 4.5 capability recommended, but the minimum requirement for the hardware renderer is OpenGL 3.3, the minimum for the software renderer is Direct3D 9"

Chocolate Doom

Chocolate Doom is a sourceport that replicates the original experience of Doom, but now on modern systems!"Chocolate Doom is a Doom source port that accurately replicates the experience of Doom as it was played in the 1990s"

It runs and plays exactly like Doom on DOS, but now you can play custom WADS and other mods way easier!Great stuff!

Zandronium

Zandronium is a program for online Doom multiplayer for ZDoom! Though, because of that, it doesn't seem right to put it in the "Sourceports" category. Zandronum is a multiplayer oriented port, based off Skulltag.

Zandronium offers a wide selection of gamemodes:Competitive: Team DM, Duel, CTF, Possession, LMS, Terminator, Skulltag;Cooperative: Survival, Invasion (or both!);Modifiers, like Instagib and Buckshot, can be used to spice up any game! Zandronium also provides many modern features for developers and players alike!

ZDaemon

ZDaemon - another multiplayer Doom mod,however, you can have and keep track of your score by creating a ZDaemon account, just like in modern FPS games.

ZDaemon has the same wide selection of gamemodes to play and quality-of-life features!
